1968 – 1983
Football Career
Gerry unexpectedly became a professional football player. However, at the time of his retirement he was second in all-time C.F.L. scoring and is a member of the City of Ottawa, University of Guelph, City of Etobicoke and O.U.A.A. Halls of Fame.

Guelph Gryphons
Gerry played four enjoyable years of football for the Mighty Gryphons with some distinction, but was not drafted by the CFL. His two buddies, Bud Fulusewch and Pat Lett, were.

From 1971 to 1983, Gerry played professional football for the Ottawa Rough Riders of the C.F.L.

In 1973 and 1976 he played on Grey Cup Championship teams, was voted the Outstanding Canadian Player in 1973 and at the time of his retirement was second in all-time C.F.L. scoring. He has been appointed to four Halls of Fame and is the all-time scoring leader for Ottawa.
